Autonomous GPS/GLONASS container tracking system
Container Tracker

The system is designed to accurately track the location of freight containers during transportation. The device uses GPS/GLONASS satellite navigation to determine geographical coordinates and transmits tracking data over 2G and 4G LTE cellular networks.
  • GPS/GLONASS location detection
  • Shockproof sealed housing
  • Motion detection, parking, bumps, and flips
  • Data transmission via 2G or 4G LTE Cat 1

How the system works

Configuration
The device is configured via Bluetooth using a mobile application.
Installation
The tracker is mounted on the container wall and designed to appear as an integral part of the container structure.
Data collection
The tracker determines its geographical position using GPS/GLONASS satellite navigation. An integrated accelerometer detects movement, stops, impacts and rollovers.
Data transmission
The tracker transmits location and event data to a monitoring platform over 2G or LTE cellular networks.

Functional requirements:

  1. Location requirements (the device must determine coordinates using GPS and GLONASS global navigation systems)
  2. Data transmission requirements (the device must transmit location and event data over 4G LTE Cat 1 and 2G networks)
  3. Requirements for collecting motion and condition data (the device must be equipped with an accelerometer to detect the start of movement, stop, bumps and flips)
  4. Requirements for autonomous operation (the device must function autonomously for up to 5 years with data transmission up to 4 times a day)
Benefits of the container tracking system
The Container Tracker system provides businesses with visibility into cargo movements throughout the logistics chain. It helps reduce the risk of lost or damaged assets, improves shipment transparency, supports logistics coordination and minimizes operating costs.

With long battery life and accurate satellite positioning, the system provides reliable information about the location and condition of each container without requiring manual tracking.

  • Full transparency of logistics and movement control
The system uses GPS/GLONASS satellite navigation to track container locations throughout transportation. This helps businesses improve logistics planning, monitor transportation routes and track adherence to delivery schedules.
    • Key Benefit: greater visibility and predictability throughout the supply chain.
  • Reducing the risks of loss and damage to property
The tracker's built-in accelerometer detects impacts, falls, rollovers and movement events. Event records provide useful information for investigating transportation incidents and responding to potential cargo handling violations.
    • Key Benefit: helps protect valuable assets and reduce losses caused by transportation incidents.
  • Savings on operating costs
The device can operate for up to five years without routine battery replacement or recharging, depending on its configuration. Tracking data are transmitted automatically over 2G or LTE cellular networks. This reduces the need for manual inspections and helps minimize maintenance and monitoring costs.
    • Key Benefit: more cost-effective logistics operations through automation and reduced maintenance requirements.
  • Speeding up claims processing
Records of container movements, impacts, falls and rollover events provide valuable supporting information when investigating cargo damage claims.
The collected data can help businesses establish when an incident occurred and support discussions with transportation providers.
    • Key Benefit: faster claims investigations, reduced administrative costs and fewer disputes.

Project scope and completed work:

  • Development of the tracker's electronic circuit schematic.
  • Printed circuit board (PCB) design and layout.
  • Manufacturing of tracker prototypes.
  • Development of embedded firmware.
  • Branding and customization of the device configuration software.
  • Production of a batch of more than 1,000 devices.
