Cart tracking system without GSM coverage
Taiga Cart Tracker-LW

A ready-to-use solution designed to track the location and movement of carts and other mobile assets, both outdoors using GPS/GLONASS satellite positioning and indoors using Bluetooth iBeacon scanning and nearby Wi-Fi networks.
  • Accurate outdoor location tracking using satellite navigation
  • Durable, impact-resistant housing designed for reliable operation in demanding industrial environments
  • Location tracking inside buildings using Bluetooth iBeacon technology and nearby Wi-Fi access points
  • Tracks and records the movement activity of monitored assets

How the system works

Configuration
The device is configured via Bluetooth using a mobile application.
Installation
The tracker is integrated into the cart structure, appearing as an integral part of the cart.
Data collection
The tracker determines its location using GPS/GLONASS satellite positioning, nearby Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth iBeacon scanning.
Data transmission
The tracker transmits cart location data to the monitoring platform via LoRaWAN.

System components:

A mobile application that allows users to configure the device and adjust its operating parameters.
Learn More
The tracker is housed in a sealed plastic enclosure and integrated into the cart structure.

Functional Requirements:

  1. The mobile application must support local configuration and adjustment of device operating parameters via Bluetooth.
Cart tracking device
The device is designed to track the movement of mobile assets, both outdoors using a satellite navigation receiver and indoors using Bluetooth iBeacon scanning and nearby Wi-Fi networks.
_____________________________________________________________________________________
Functional requirements:

1. Enclosure requirements (the enclosure must allow the tracker to be securely integrated into the cart structure).
2. Data transmission requirements (data transmission must be performed via LoRaWAN, with a configurable transmission interval specified in minutes).
3. Data storage requirements (if the cart moves outside the LoRaWAN network coverage area, the measured data must be stored in the device's internal memory). The stored data must be automatically transmitted to the monitoring platform once the device reconnects to the LoRaWAN network.
4. Power supply requirements (the built-in battery must provide autonomous operation for up to three years).

The device supports three positioning technologies for reliable asset tracking in different operating environments:

The integrated GNSS receiver provides outdoor geolocation.

The GNSS module can be activated periodically to determine the asset's geographical position using signals from the GPS and GLONASS global navigation satellite systems.

Benefits of the cart tracking system
The Taiga Cart Tracker-LW system enables businesses to monitor cart movements even in areas without GSM coverage, thanks to LoRaWAN connectivity and multiple positioning technologies. Long battery life, shock detection and movement analytics help reduce maintenance costs and improve operational safety.

The system helps minimize equipment losses, speed up asset location and optimize cart utilization, improving logistics efficiency and workforce productivity.

  • Reliable Cart Tracking without GSM coverage
The device's positioning technologies enable cart tracking inside buildings, hangars, warehouses, production facilities, basements and outdoor areas where GSM coverage is unavailable.
    • Key Benefit: Reduces the risk of lost, stolen or improperly used carts.
  • Reduced operating costs and equipment losses
Quickly locating the required cart minimizes employee downtime and eliminates unnecessary expenses associated with renting or replacing lost equipment.
    • Key Benefit: Reduces direct and indirect logistics and equipment operating costs.
  • Improved operational efficiency
Movement statistics help businesses optimize transportation routes and distribute workloads more efficiently. The system improves asset organization across warehouses, manufacturing facilities and logistics centers.
    • Key Benefit: Increases workforce productivity and improves asset utilization.
  • Reliable data analytics for better decision-making
The tracker stores collected data even when operating outside LoRaWAN network coverage and automatically transmits it once connectivity is restored.
This helps prevent data loss and ensures the availability of movement history for further analysis.
    • Key Benefit: Provides management with reliable data for process optimization, resource planning and operational decision-making.

Project scope and completed work:

  • Development of the tracker's electronic circuit schematic.
  • Printed circuit board (PCB) design and layout.
  • Manufacturing of tracker prototypes.
  • Development of embedded firmware.
  • Branding and customization of the device configuration software.
  • Preparation of engineering and design documentation required for independent manufacturing of the tracking devices.
  • Production of a batch of more than 100 units.
