The operating principle of the system
The system includes:
Sensor equipment:
When installing the sensor on the side wall of the MSW container, the sensor orientation is selected so that the upper sensor is directed at the opposite side wall of the container, while the side sensor should be directed at the bottom of the container. During the operation of the sensor, when installed on the side wall of the container, the distance from the nearest obstacle to the upper and side sensors is measured at a period specified in the sensor settings, which can range from 1 minute to 24 hours. The side sensor measures the level of the container’s fullness. If the distance to the nearest obstacle measured by the upper sensor changes abruptly, the sensor initiates an out‑of‑turn communication session with a remote server to transmit information about the container being 100 % full. If the distance from the side sensor to the nearest obstacle becomes less than half a metre, the sensor also initiates an out‑of‑turn communication session with a remote server to transmit information about the waste level in the container approaching 100 % fullness.
When installing the sensor on the top lid of the container, the sensor orientation is selected in such a way that the upper sensor is directed at the bottom of the container. The container’s fill level is measured using only the upper sensor, while the side sensor remains unused. The frequency of distance measurements by the sensors and data transmission to the remote server when installed on the top lid of the container is processed in the same way as when installed on the side wall. If the distance from the top sensor to the nearest obstacle becomes less than half a meter, the sensor initiates an emergency communication session with a remote server to transmit information about the waste level in the container approaching 100% filling. When the distance from the top sensor to the nearest obstacle becomes less than 20 cm, the sensor initiates an emergency communication session to transmit information about the container being 100% filled to the remote server.
Implementing a container fill monitoring system based on the MTBO‑1 sensor provides companies engaged in waste collection, management of utility facilities, and operation of residential and commercial areas with a number of significant economic and organizational advantages.
Using the system helps reduce costs, improve service quality, lower risks, and enhance reputation.
